Using CBD along with a hair mask can leave your hair feeling hydrated, shiny looking, and stronger. And the best thing? You can whip up your very own with the ingredients you have at home in your cupboard.. and of course some CBD.

Using a hair mask doesn’t have to take up hours of your time either  – most can be rinsed off in around 20 minutes or, and you could always set aside one evening a week to pamper yourself. Apply your mask, pour yourself a glass of wine, and get ready for healthier hair.

The Benefits

Adding CBD or Hemp Seed Oil to your shampoo isn’t just a trendy thing to do, it offers a bunch of benefits. High in vitamin E and fatty acids, it nourishes the scalp and strengthens hair. Inside CBD Oil are omega-3, omega-6 and the omega-9 acids, which help improve the quality of the scalp tissue. Massaging the scalp with CBD oil promotes hair growth, according to one study. Additionally, it’s high in vitamins A, C, and E, making CBD oil one of the best solutions for dry and damaged hair.

When it comes to buying hair care products infused with CBD, mane addicts have a variety of options to pick and choose from. CBD stores are popping up like weeds, offering stoned citizens health, wellness, beauty and pet care products, both instore and online.

Citizens and members of the “cruelty free”movement or purists who prefer a more natural approach when it comes to the healing wonders of cannabis can always make natural CBD infused shampoo at home.

What is cbd oil?

CBD oil is a non-intoxicating herbal remedy made from hemp flower, another is cannabis honey. It is rich in cannabidiol, a type of compound found in cannabis that has strong anti-inflammatory properties. One of CBD’s benefits is that it conveys the beneficial properties of cannabis without the high since it contains little to no THC.

Many people take CBD to help combat inflammation, anxiety, or restless sleep. Some research suggests it helps protect and support nervous system health and may reduce pain, while other research suggests it supports gut health and proper immune system function.

To make CBD oil at home, you’ll need to follow a simple two-step process: decarboxylation and infusion. While it sounds complex, decarboxylation is a simple process of precision heating that activates beneficial compounds in cannabis. The second step, infusion, releases those compounds into a carrier oil. Infused oils are easy to take, and oil makes these compounds easier for your body to absorb, too.

Activating the cbd

In order to make CBD oil, you need to extract cannabidiol from hemp first. Further, you need to activate through a process called decarboxylation. The compounds in cannabis plants aren’t active or bioavailable on their own; rather, they’re activated through heat which is why the plant is traditionally smoked.

Rather than smoking, you can activate these compounds through other means of heating. Some people bake hemp flowers in a slow oven for about an hour or use a slow cooker. These methods are inexpensive, but they’re also imprecise and may not activate all the CBD.

To activate CBD efficiently and to get the most from your plant material, you’ll need a precision cooker (also known as a decarboxylator) which can maintain exact temperatures needed for the full activation of CBD and other cannabinoids. With precision heating, decarboxylators extract a higher percentage of beneficial plant compounds than cruder methods and are a worthwhile investment for anyone who takes CBD oil regularly or wants to make a consistently good product.

Where to Find a Decarboxylator. Commercial CBD oil producers use huge decarboxylators capable of activating the cannabinoids in several pounds of cannabis; however, if you’re making it at home, you’ll need a smaller version.

We used the Ardent Flex for making this CBD oil. With multiple settings, you can use it to activate CBD as well as similar compounds. And, you can also use it to make herbal infusions. Save $30 with code NOURISHED.

The quest for softer, shinier hair continues. If your hair has been feeling like straw and looks dull lately (never a good look), it may be time to try our 25 tips for healthy hair or introduce CBD oil into your hair care regimen.

Since, every single strand of hair is made out of protein, CBD oil is incredibly effective in combating dry hair because it contains 21 amino acids, the building blocks of protein. Therefore, using a CBD shampoo can help to strengthen your hair and reduce dryness.

CBD oil is also very rich in antioxidants such as vitamins A, E, and C. These antioxidants can help to protect your hair from harsh free radicals from the environment, keeping your mane strong and healthy just the way we want it.

Who likes having a dry, itchy scalp? Feeling like you’ll never get relief from the persistent itch until your next shampoo, most of us have been there. Beyond scalp conditions, seasonal changes can also contribute to dry, inflamed scalps.

And since we’re constantly being told that a happy scalp means happy hair, by that logic, keeping your scalp happy should be the answer to healthy hair right?

Using CBD oil for hair may be the ultimate treatment for your horribly itchy scalp. As previously mentioned, the fatty acids will help to moisturize your hair shaft, but in addition to that the properties in CBD can actually connect to receptors that reduce inflammation on the scalp. Using CBD shampoo for example can improve dandruff, seborrheic dermatitis, eczema, and itchy, flaky scalp. Hallelujah!

Life is full of injustices including people who can easily grow their hair down to their butts while the rest of us struggle to grow our hair longer and thicker. Ughh. Check out this blog post to learn why you may not be able to grow your hair.

Anyways enough self-pity, regular use of CBD oil for hair will have your hair growing like a weed (see what I did there). The reason is that CBD oil contains fatty acids like Omega-3, Omega-6 and Omega-9.

It has been proven that when used on your hair these fatty acids lock in moisture and seal the cuticle. When they are absorbed by the scalp, they help to promote and stimulate hair growth. This results in long, thick lustrous locks, envision Fabio’s hair blowing in the wind (yes that beautiful!).

If you can’t wait for CBD oil, consider trying hair extensions for longer hair in minutes.
